I, the undersigned, Vasiliu Lucilius, born on 13 February of 1966, have graduated The Faculty of Mathematics of "Alexandra loan-Cuza" University - Iasi in the year of 1989.
Ever since I was in gymnasium and then in high-school I was very attracted to mathematics and I became an assiduous problems solver at the Gazeta Matematica. I have attended the Olympiad competitions which were organized at the level of school, district and country and I have obtained prizes to all phases of the competitions. Until the first year of teaching I have managed to solve over 13.000 types of problems. Due to this intense work sustained ever since the high-school and throughout University, I have gained an amazing ability to solve problems. This would be proven by wining several contests during my first years of teaching probation and I have managed to become a teacher at the "Colegiul National" from Iasi in my third year of probation. Ever since I was a student I felt a sort of attraction, like many other mathematicians all around the world, an attraction to an extremely difficult domain - the research of 150 years old problems, problems which have troubled the minds of mathematics researchers for centuries. My thorough grounding and my tenacity in work have led me to achieving my first successes. In other words, in 1988 I have managed to define fractional powers of the continuous monotonous and differentiable operators on the R space. This was a problem over 200 years old. Also in 1988 I have solved a problem of physics-mathematics. It is about the radial symmetry of many solutions of some partial differential equations which occur especially in the theoretical physics. This symmetry is due to the fact that the symmetry group of the operator coincide with the symmetry group of the domain. This problem too is 200 years old and it has troubled the minds of other thousands of mathematicians and physicians. All these successful results have brought me satisfaction and a well deserved prestige in the world of global mathematics - the results are known by professors from the greatest Universities from all over the world. All these early successes have driven the continuation of my research, approaching from this point a much more difficult problem which is considered in our days the most important problem in mathematics, which is "The Riemann Hypothesis". |
